5 Best Brunch Spots in Southern Minnesota

5 Best Brunch Spots in Southern Minnesota

‘Tis the season to be merry, right?

If you are a busy host, preparing to have the family over, it can be an overwhelming time of year. Cooking, baking, cleaning, gift shopping, wrapping… the list goes on and on. But trust me when I say that quality time with friends and families this holiday season does not need to come with a list full of chores. Why not consider going out for brunch?

Southern Minnesota boasts plenty of amazing spots for a delightful brunch. From bubbly mimosas and creative bloody marys to decadent baked goods and even buffets, there is a wide selection of delicious options throughout our area. Here are some of the best-rated brunch spots!

1. Tandem Bagels, Mankato

If you are seeking a low-key, casual meetup for brunch, Mankato residents know Tandem Bagels is the place to go. This trendy and adorable location has a great assortment of bagels - yet their soups, sandwiches, and special drinks really add to the choices.

2. Kenny’s Oak Grill, Austin

If you crave a brunch that fills your belly, Kenny’s Oak Grill has a tasty variety of “greasy spoon diner” selections. From omelet specialties (try the spam and cheese!) to hashbrowns bursting with peppers and onions and THEN smothered in hollandaise, to the raspberry fritter french toast and enormous belgian waffles… well, my mouth is watering already.

This restaurant also opens up at 7 a.m. daily for the early birds.

3. The Feed Mill Restaurant, Jordan

A 30+ year staple in Jordan is the homemade, cozy Feed Mill Restaurant. With the feel and flavors “like grandma made,” this makes a great stop for those of all ages and tastes!

From breakfast favorites to juicy burgers, you can get a mix of meals all at the same table. They even have a fun children’s menu if you have kids in tow!

4. River Rock Coffee & Tea, St. Peter

If you crave a warm morning beverage with your brunch, River Rock is not to be missed. Yes, they even do those adorable shapes in your frothy foam. Candy Cane Mocha is calling my name!

Seating is limited, but the spot makes for a great option for those hoping to bring brunch home. Beautiful baked goods, hearty oatmeals, and even soups and sandwiches, this hot spot (with another location in Mankato!) also has some great healthy choices (try the acai bowl!) to be sure you don’t go too far off the rails over the holiday season.

5. Lola - An American Bistro, New Ulm

I’m not personally sure how they manage to balance a food truck, a catering business, and this brick-and-mortar restaurant, but I’m glad they do! Open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily (with the kitchen closing at 2), this spot is ideal for brunch. House-Made Scones, Croque Monsieur, and sausage and gravy combine for a unique experience.

What’s Your Favorite Brunch Spot?

Brunch is a fun way to bring the family together or reconnect with friends over the holidays or even just a chilly winter weekend. Southern Minnesota offers a long list of wonderful spots. These are just some of our favorites!
